Changelog

Every release of the standard, newest first, in the form of Keep a Changelog (Lacan 2019). Versions follow MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH as extending.md defines them. The commit to pin a release by is the one its tag points to: git rev-list -n 1 v1.16.1, or the repository's tags page.

[1.21.0] - 2026-11-04

Changed

  • The check duplication skips, in a file that declares a shape, every line found verbatim in that shape's Skeleton block. A repository with many instances of one shape no longer exempts the skeleton by hand.
  • The shape is read from disk: a relative link, a github.com link to this repository, or a sibling checkout beside it. Nothing is fetched over the network. When the shape cannot be read, the file is counted as before.

[1.20.0] - 2026-11-03

Added

  • The option --out FILE of checks/run.py: it writes one line per finding, kind check path:line message, then a summary line and exit N, replacing the file of the last run. Standard output is unchanged.
  • The card builder keeps what is written by hand in llms.txt: a line <!-- hand --> and all after it survive a rebuild, so pages the principle files cannot give stay listed.

[1.19.2] - 2026-10-29

Fixed

  • The check type-buckets reported folders under a path in [scope] exclude; it now reads only the files in scope.
  • The import-cycle part of tree-shape read Python files under an excluded path, and could fail on a cycle there.
  • The changelog is exempt from the section-cohesion question too: each of its sections is one release.

[1.19.1] - 2026-10-29

Changed

  • The front page's status no longer says "a work in progress". It says what that meant: the version and its date, that one maintainer read and graded the evidence and nobody else reviewed it, the three claim audits, and where corrections go. Both languages.

Added

  • Release markers, <!-- release:version --> and <!-- release:date -->, which standard-card fills from this changelog, so a page that states the current version cannot drift.

[1.19.0] - 2026-10-29

Added

  • The check release-version: the citation file's version and release date equal the changelog's newest release.

Changed

  • The citation file's title is "reader-ergonomics", without "work in progress", and it gives the version and date. That the work is informal and not peer-reviewed now stands in its abstract.

[1.18.2] - 2026-10-29

Fixed

  • The extending page lists the sixth extension, reader-ergonomics-blueprint. Its bibliography shares no key with another work across the seven repositories.
  • The changelog is exempt from the size trigger and the figure question, like the bibliography: it is a list, one entry per release.

[1.18.1] - 2026-10-29

Fixed

  • The 1.18.0 entry of this changelog splits a sentence past the length limit.

[1.18.0] - 2026-10-29

Changed

  • Nine more principles grade their claims clause by clause, after every claim was re-read against its evidence. They are browsable folders, group by what changes together, names predict content, tunables in config, define before use, figure next to its text, readable measure, sufficient contrast and short dependencies. Each weaker clause now says what it rests on: practice, analogy or theory.

[1.17.0] - 2026-10-29

Added

  • This changelog, of every release since 1.0.0.
  • The check changelog-pin: an extension's newest changelog pin line names the release its workflows check out.
  • On the front page, how a reader takes their own version: fork or copy, name the reader, pin a release, run the checks; and where a disagreement goes.

Changed

  • A pin move or a dependency bump is a changelog entry, not a decision record; the decision-record shape says so, and extending.md gives the entry's form.

[1.16.1] - 2026-10-29

Fixed

  • Each evidence review opens with what it holds.
  • The checks README names the checks not exercised here.
