# The rules of the family

The six rules the members share, one page each with its reason and its history. They were held in the maintainer's
notes and in the standard's contract page; here they are written down once, and the members link them.

## Contents

| Rule | Summary |
|---|---|
| [The standard depends on no extension](standard-depends-on-no-extension.md) | The standard may list an extension, never read it |
| [One genre per extension](one-genre-per-extension.md) | An extension holds only what its genre changes, and links the rest |
| [Every member runs the standard's checks](every-member-runs-the-checks.md) | Own checks live in `checks/local/` and are proposed upward |
| [Each genre owner audits the whole family](genre-owners-audit-the-family.md) | A finding goes to the owner as an issue, never a push |
| [A pin raise is a changelog line](a-pin-raise-is-a-changelog-line.md) | No decision record; every workflow moves at once |
| [Every member has a release](every-member-has-a-release.md) | A tag and a take-it block on the front page |
